Distilled in Indiana, this high-rye straight bourbon from Cathead Distillery's Old Soul line has a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. After 7 years of maturation in Mississippi, it was bottled at 119.2 proof cask strength. The first release in the Tintype Series, it features blues artist Captain Luke Mayer on the label. Produced in 1,100 cases, it was released in November 2021.

A powerful bourbon in every aspect. High rye aroma, with vanilla, caramel, pear, cinnamon, crème brûlée, berries, and charred oak. It's quite hot and spicy at first on the palate, but once your mouth adjusts, it softens into rich and spicy cinnamon, vanilla, char, rye, caramel, cherry, and pear. Hot initially, but give it time. Truly excellent stuff. A long, spicy finish.
I could discuss this dram for ages. It's packed with butterscotch! A strong aroma of caramel and vanilla. The taste has creme brûlée and toffee. The finish is long and delightful. It leaves your entire mouth satisfied. 4.5/5 a definite winner
Tasted neat with a friend... It was initially sharp, but after a few moments and a bit of comfort, it mellowed out. I detect notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and oak. Delicious. A brief review because of family time. But it's delicious.
Another excellent MGP product, though aged in Mississippi. It has a seven-year age statement and is cask strength, offering rich butterscotch notes.
Sweet, with a bit of spice and bite. A sweet, fruity finish. Smells like caramel.
