This one is 108 proof and 11 years old from MGP, barrel 030. The story is that a group of people...probably unfamiliar with bourbon...purchased whiskey and then bottled it while coincidentally having an office in a distillery they really want us to know is historic... Love the fabricated "history" with the picture on the back and the "old" title to make us believe this is something from the past. Nose - I agree with other comments, this seems like a high rye bourbon. Lots of mint, spices, vanilla, and not much else. Taste - This must be the spiciest bourbon I've had from MGP. It has a white bread and caramel malt base with light spices leaning towards Christmas and mint notes. Finish is medium to light, with minimal depth. Surprisingly little oak or complexity beyond the spices and sweetness. I would have expected more from an 11-year MGP barrel, but it's a single barrel and they can't all be winners. I don't think anyone will dislike this unless they can't handle spice. I will add that it drinks very easily for 108 proof, and that might appeal to many people. Giving this a 2.25 for being a well-made bourbon, but without anything truly standing out. Overall, at $130, this is an easy and difficult pass.

Debra Middleton 4.3

Barrel#G18P. 115.1 Proof. A high-rye bourbon (35% rye). The nose has vanilla, honey, and rye; someone else detects cherry cola. The palate contains caramel, honey, menthol, and oak. Someone else also tastes sage. A long, spicy finish.

Andy Ruffin 4.0

A spirited bourbon with a lot of rye and a high proof. The spice mixes well with notes of honey and brown sugar. It has a pleasant smoothness and good oak character on both the nose and palate, indicating it's well-matured.

Marina Yarbrough 4.5

Honey and vanilla, with significant spice at the end. The spice lingers. It’s not overly sharp but a good, balanced kick of rye with the sweeter notes

Twila Mccain 3.5

Has a somewhat sweet, medicinal taste. Not overly harsh. The flavor lingers quite a bit. I'd prefer it to be a bit sweeter.

Cristal Rush 3.5

Spicy with a lengthy finish. Good, but not worth the price for me.
