Old Forester President's Choice Bourbon (2018 Release)

Batch 13- 9 Year Old Nose- Caramelized banana, lemons, cherries, dark caramel, vanilla, espresso beans Palate- Spiced oak initially, followed by a wave of honey sweetness, lemon oil, baking spices, caramel, espresso Finish- Long, mouth-coating finish with notes of baking spices, caramel, and espresso Mmm. Wonderful stuff. You can immediately sense the age. Unique espresso flavors from start to finish. The best way to describe this is dark and rich. I would order this at a bar anytime if I saw it, but for the price, I would prefer to pay slightly more for Birthday Bourbon. Regardless, a fantastic pour that you should share with fellow bourbon enthusiasts.

Taste #100. The aroma is a richer, more complex version of typical banana foster, with notes of butterscotch and toffee. The palate is well-balanced, reminiscent of banana nut bread but less sweet, with a hint of toffee. The finish is pleasant and viscous, coating the mouth, and it drinks lighter than its stated proof. My brother and I each got a bottle after speaking with Barb at the distillery in Louisville. It's likely my most treasured bottle. It has impressive legs and a noticeably darker color than most of my other bourbons.

Sweet caramel on the nose, with a slight burn. The taste starts a bit hot, then quickly softens to a vanilla or burnt sugar/crème brûlée flavor. The finish has a gentle warmth, with lingering dark chocolate, dark fruit, and more vanilla.

This specific serving is from batch 29. The nose is strongly characterized by vanilla, char, and sweet cherry. The palate mirrors the Old Forester profile with char, vanilla, light cherry, and banana, complemented by a pleasant spiciness. The finish is long and warming.

Indeed, it's that good. Don't pass it up. It's incredibly smooth in the pour and finish. Yes, it's expensive, but the pours at the distillery are a good price. Classic oak with a supporting role of sweet oak and leather, noted as buttery smooth with a touch of heat.

The aroma is sweet and intricate. It possesses a slightly medicinal quality. Full-bodied with minimal lingering burn, just the right duration. A touch of spice at the end and an oaky finish.
