STRAIGHT Aroma: Sweet tea, caramel, maple, and vanilla Taste: This bourbon is wonderfully smooth, gliding across the palate. It has significant depth but not much intricacy. The taste is rich with sweet nougat, maple, and caramel, finishing with vanilla notes. Aftertaste: Brief. I think the finish is so short due to the drying sensation this bourbon leaves on the palate. There's also some barrel char on the finish, likely from the mesquite. SHOULD I BUY? - Yes. I consider this a great bourbon for its price, especially for a limited edition. SHOULD I BUY AGAIN? - I would gladly get this again. UPDATE: The MSRP has gone up. I've seen it for around $100, which makes it a tougher buy. It's a shame, as its original $75 price was much more sensible.

About this bottle
This limited edition represents the second collaboration between Old Forester and King Ranch, an expansive 825,000-acre ranch in South Texas. Together, these entities boast over three centuries of American heritage. The bourbon is produced using heavily-charred barrels and undergoes a finishing process through mesquite charcoal derived from trees harvested at King Ranch. Bottled at 105 proof, it was launched on October 1, 2023, exclusively for the Texas market with a suggested retail price of $89.99.

Nose - Lots of sweet sweet spice. Banana praline, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel. Palate - Heavy sweet and bitter. Sweet vanilla with lots of cinnamon, oak, and pepper. Finish - Lots of bitter oak and a little banana; it's nice, but I wish the finish mirrored the nose more directly.
Very light aroma, with wonderful hints of wood and cream. It starts light then becomes sharp on the tongue, leaving a lingering bite, but the smooth swallow remains long after.
Too young and pricey, but it does have some good points. Banana is definitely prominent, and if it were less expensive...
Classic bourbon notes, but with added depth. Herbal aroma. The taste is sweet caramel. The finish lasts a moderate to long time.
