About this bottle

This limited release is part of the brand's Cask Finish Series. Its Straight Bourbon utilizes a mash bill of 51% corn, 34% malted barley, and 15% rye, and initially matured in new, charred American oak before being finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks.

Smell: cherry, malty Taste: cherry, sweet, brown sugar Conclusion: I initially thought it was short, but then it comes on strong and lingers (could be my heartburn). Overall: I purchased several bottles of these with different finishes and they have been acceptable. A sherry cask finish is usually a sure thing for me, but I'm not sure I would buy this one again.

Franklin Woody 3.5

Bourbon with a sherry influence, noticeable enough to impart a light sulfur scent on the nose and a flavor on the palate reminiscent of a sherry-finished lowland Scotch, almost like smoke with a rye kick. Remarkably easy to consume for its alcohol content. The ethanol is well-integrated with the other flavors, considering it's 108 proof.

Kenzie Calderon 4.3

A nice balance of spearmint and molasses that's almost chewy. Finishes smoothly with sherry flavor and a light touch of oak. A solid pour with a medium to long finish.

Orlando Gamboa 2.0

The nose is sweet and caramel-like with some subtle banana notes. The taste is intense initially but mellows with a little water. It has caramel notes followed by a swift and strong bitter finish.

Jimmie Casper 3.0

A little sharp at first sip until it opened up with ice. I expected a smoother finish like with standard Old Elk. Good flavor in the Sherry cask.

Rocco Lindberg 5.0

Basically a slightly improved Noble Oak. Which is already heavenly. So imagine tasting the favorite fruit of the gods. This is its nectar.
