Old Bones Bourbon 10 Year Reserve

The nose is potent and warming. It has a dark molasses color and rich caramel notes. The initial taste is like apple pie with cinnamon and caramel, finishing with a hint of vanilla. Adding a few drops opened up the aroma and finish, revealing more vanilla and brown sugar. It's very good, though warm on the finish unless allowed to rest or diluted. Compared to Rebel Yell 10yr, it has less oak and more vanilla. I like it better than RY. Update after finishing half the bottle: I'm considering increasing the score significantly; it's developing wonderfully. It's much less intense and has a broader flavor profile now. I would definitely purchase another bottle if I found it for under about $75.

Smells like... MGP. Strong on the nose, seems hot. Rich caramel. On the tongue, not as hot as the nose suggests, although it is hot. A bit astringent. Some apple. Cinnamon. Flavors seem muted. A few drops opened up the nose, revealing more fruit. Opens up the palate as well, making it sweeter and less dry. 1/25/18

This is a fantastic whiskey. I've heard it's actually George Dickel, bottled in Kentucky. Regardless, it's truly excellent, though expensive.

Easy to drink. Cherry. The rye doesn't present as 40%+ alcohol.
