Gloria Nilson 4.0

While visiting the Oban distillery, I felt compelled to try the Distillery Exclusive, and I really didn't have a choice, as it was part of my whisky tour there. Oban typically produces very enjoyable whisky that I consider a "safe" dram. It won't blow me away, but I haven't had a below-average single malt from this distillery. The aroma starts with a very rustic character. Honey; a very "farm-like" vanilla. After 2 minutes, a fresh lemon zest appears. Sugar and a hint of smoke. Surprisingly, after 5 minutes, blackberries emerge unexpectedly. Haystack notes are also present. The taste was not the best. Too watery, though very sugary. It's like a glass of very sweet milk. The aftertaste was good. A very hay-like finish; salty. The saltiness is noticeable on the lips. A faint hint of peat. Overall, this is my least favorite Oban, and it barely passes my average score. It's not an unpleasant dram or anything like that; it's just a little dull and unremarkable. My score is 80 out of 100.

Reyna Richmond 3.3

Not impressive. Ask a friend. Wanted much more.

Jarvis Barr 3.5

Unremarkable. It has an acetone aroma.
