Aroma: caramel and raisins Taste: I saw another review stating it tastes like a fig newton, and damn, that's pretty much accurate. You definitely get the sherry flavor on the finish. Overall: For $100, I expect to be thoroughly impressed, and this spirit nearly achieves that. I live in Cleveland, so I've been eager to try this given all the national acclaim it has received. I was actually prepared to make the 2-hour drive to Columbus to try and find one, but then, by chance, my local store had one (shout out to Corkscrew Johnnys for a great bourbon selection if you're ever in the Cleveland/Akron area). I'm looking forward to trying other products from Middle West after this. Cheers, friends.

About this bottle
This whiskey is part of Middle West Spirits' inaugural Double Cask Collection. The bourbon undergoes a minimum of six years of aging, initially in heavily toasted and charred Ohio American white oak barrels, followed by maturation in sun-darkened Spanish Solera Sherry casks. It became available in October 2021.

Nose: buttery butterscotch Palate: excessive oak that drowns out any sherry characteristics, pumpernickel bread Finish: brief and weak Overall: The sherry finish bottling from several years back was considerably superior. Is it peculiar to suggest it spent too much time in the barrel at just 6 years? Could that be the double oak effect? Overly oaked for my preference, and the cost is far too steep.
Incredibly sweet. Tastes like liquid raisins, fig newtons, juice. I can't stress that enough. Very distinctive. Proudly from Columbus.
Aroma: butterscotch Palate: hints of leather, briny with a touch of smoke Finish: woody with some warmth
Pleasant flavor, quite smooth. Not much burn going down.
A nice balance of heat and sweetness.
