Medley Exclusive Selection Barrel Proof KY Bourbon 2019

Looking back at my notes. A person brought this over, and while it's not exactly the same as the one listed, it's quite similar. This is from Justin’s House of Bourbon 2019, Barrel 1, 58.1% ABV, bottle 2 of 192. Sourced from Kentucky, possibly Barton, based on my impressions. This isn't the excessively aged, oaky Barton that can be inconsistent; instead, it aligns with the 1792 BiB and Full Proof styles. At 116 proof, it's slightly less potent than 1792 FP (124 proof) but shares many of the same characteristics. On the nose, I detect candy cigarettes, vanilla frosting, a hint of peanut, and a touch of nutmeg and clove. This profile suggests a mash bill high in corn with a moderate amount of rye. The texture is thin, and it has a noticeable warmth that isn't unpleasant. The taste features sweet corn, clove, nutmeg, cherry, and well-integrated oak. It leans more towards sweetness than tannic dryness, with no discernible bitterness. I'm unsure of the price, but if I saw it in the $50-70 range, I'd definitely buy it. While it's hard to predict barrel origins, this stood up well against two other 1792 FP selections we sampled for comparison.

Enjoying bottle 15 from barrel #1 and I'm absolutely amazed...what a find! Baking spices, cinnamon, dark fruits... I'd rank it several steps above ECBP and Old Ezra, and just one step below GTS. At under $100, this feels like an incredible bargain.

Among the finest barrel proof bourbons I've encountered (and my experience is extensive). Finding a bottle is challenging, but if you locate one, acquire multiple.

This bottle consistently impresses me with every serving. It's the best hidden gem in my collection.
