Longmorn The Distiller's Choice

The slogan for this distillery, owned by Pernod Ricard, is "Scotland's best-kept secret." I had the opportunity to taste four of their whiskies. This particular one stands out due to its maturation in three distinct cask types: hogsheads, Oloroso Sherry, and Bourbon barrels. Bottled at 40% ABV. Nose: Features notes of peaches and florals, with a very perfumed aroma. Hints of citrus, such as lime, are present. It develops a dryness and notes of fruitcake. Palate: Quite mild, with only two distinct flavors identifiable: almonds and red apples. The finish is also very clean, offering notes of tobacco, dry grass, and hay. In summary, it's a pleasant, well-rounded whisky for daily enjoyment. It costs $60. My rating is 82/100.

Pale with caramelized tones. Dominated by dried fruits. Marzipan-like, caramelized like Toffee, sweet on the nose but with dry notes simultaneously. On the palate, it is direct. Smooth finish of medium duration. Simple but of high quality.

Sweet aroma. Smells like brown sugar. Notes of citrus, honey, and pear-apple. The finish brings a classic scotch essence (iodine, sherry, a touch of floral). Reminded me of Dalmore. A bit of water is essential.

Malt, floral honey, vanilla, caramel, a subtly savory vegetal maltiness, cognac, and chocolate-covered raisins. Smooth, with spicy, sweet honey flavors that linger, and a slight mustiness. A bit thin considering the price.

Adding a dash of water is essential. It offers a rich nose with hints of fruit and caramel. The palate presents toffee, chocolate, and a bit of smoky wood peat. The finish has slight notes of honey and toffee.

No age statement, a mix of sherry and bourbon casks. Spicy ginger and then sweeter with toffee after resting for 15 minutes. (I preferred the old logo).
