Longmorn Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whiskey Co.)

Not many more samples remaining, quite a few actually, and then my sampling journey concludes. Unfortunately, I mishandled my first Longmorn, as a few drops became a deluge when I was too careless and used the tap (rest assured, my entire house has a.5 micron carbon block filter, so only pure water interacts with my cherished whiskey). It's difficult to assess something that has been diluted, much like judging a cactus on its performance in an aquarium. Still, it was an interesting experiment, and I didn't entirely ruin it. Furthermore, they suggest some tasters reduce the ABV to 30% to uncover all the subtleties, so one could argue I was strictly adhering to protocol. Ah, who am I kidding... it's more whiskey-flavored water than whiskey. However, it still had lovely vanilla and honey notes, with no bitterness (unsure if that's a consequence of over-dilution). It probably would have scored a 3.5.

Honey and vanilla with a building, intense spice that abruptly recedes before overwhelming you. It feels oily in the mouth. A long spicy burn lingers at the end.
