The discontinued Gordon & MacPhail's Cask Strength line offered excellent whiskies. Matured in sherry hogsheads (first and refill), this 2004 Ledaig could be mistaken for an Islay. The nose is complex and inviting, featuring smoked ham, vanilla, iodine, lime, and moderate peat smoke. The arrival is peppery and bold, with grapefruit and savory peatiness developing in the taste. Hints of sweetness, tar, and salt mark the long, warming finish. Peat lovers, don't overlook Ledaig! RATING: 4.0/5.0 stars ≙ 88 pts → FIRST-CLASS
