Isabel Houston 3.5

A well-smoked single malt from the Tobermory distillery, marketed as Ledaig and independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. This was aged for 18 years before bottling and features the somewhat annoyed depiction of Ledaig heading to Islay - likely to use that hammer... Batch 3 is a run of 921 bottles. It has an aromatic beginning with hints of toasted rye bread, steak with peppercorn sauce, touches of dry earth, a subtle floral note of hibiscus petals & apple cores; while a balanced middle adds notes of earthy smoky peat, Cherry Bakewell, dried oak & Maltesers; that resulted in a long conclusion with notes of rye, well-aged brandy, crumbly Biscotti & black tea. Attended Dramfest '18. It still has that Ledaig flavor I dislike. A solid 3. I much preferred the official bottling with the Masala finish.

Smells and tastes like the drowned, decaying body of a Scottish sailor. The finish is smooth, though.
