The aroma had some fruit and smoke. It was a little zesty and somewhat reserved. The taste repeated the fruit and smoke, with clove and cinnamon emerging. A slight caramel sweetness. The finish was peppery with oak and clove, almost a sweet, leathery conclusion.

About this bottle
Laphroaig's 2025 Càirdeas release presents its Lore expression at cask strength. The "friendship" in Càirdeas, its Gaelic name, signifies the annual bottling for the Friends of Laphroaig (FoL) members. This single malt is a blend of five distinct casks, presented without chill-filtration and bottled at 59.6% ABV. Initially offered to 2025 Fèis Ìle attendees and FoL, it is now distributed internationally, with the US receiving its allocation in July 2025. (SRP $110)

I haven't tried Lore before, so it's difficult to compare. This one is peaty and smoky. It's most similar to the standard version out of the 23–25 cardias.
It doesn't feel as potent as one might expect. Truly excellent. Sweet, opulent, and profound. It might warrant another purchase.
One of the finest scotches I have ever tasted.
Smoky and somewhat sour. We did not enjoy it.
