Langatun Marsala cask finish

I am familiar with the standard Langatun Old Deer, which is a pleasing and quite good Swiss whisky (give it a shot!). This expression comes from their limited edition (only 495 bottles produced) series that features special cask finishing. The bottle's appearance is very appealing – truly distinctive, with a gold seal encircling the neck and detailed descriptions on the rear label: The spirit was created in August 2012 and initially aged for 8 years in Chardonnay casks, followed by an additional 10 months in Marsala casks. It was bottled in March 2021. Therefore, it's nearly 9 years old. Appearance: Natural color, a deep caramel or gold hue, reminiscent of an aged Sauternes. Nose: Wine-like. Malt character. Toasted Almonds. Sweet spice. Almond paste. Amaretto liqueur. A hint of Pedro Ximenez style. Delightful! Palate: Unexpectedly zesty! It again presents caramel sweetness. A touch of Amaretto's bitterness. This is certainly not dull! Finish: Remarkably unique in a positive way. Once more, a slightly winey quality. It truly warms the throat and nose! This is a pleasant and very uncommon pour. It's not perfectly integrated, but enjoyable. Perhaps not ideal as an aperitif - more suited for later in the evening.
