This is a sherry and chardonnay cask finished single malt whisky from a Swiss distillery I favor. Chardonnay casks tend to impart distinct aromas, and this one is no exception. Upon opening the bottle, an ammonia-like scent is detectable from a distance. Initial aroma: The ammonia note is present at first before fading, making way for scents of Provencal herbs, red berries, and caramel. Taste: Notes of tobacco, Provencal herbs, a creamy texture, and a slight sweetness. While not my top choice, it remains a distinctive and enjoyable spirit.
