Lamas Plenus

Nose: Vanilla, honey, caramel, a hint of butteriness, woody notes reminiscent of wet wood, citrus sweetness from oranges and sweet tropical fruit compote, and a light spice from an unidentified spice. This whisky, like other Lamas labels, has a prominent persimmon aroma that fades as the bottle level drops. Another perceived note was damp paper, which almost disappears as the bottle level decreases. Low alcohol perception. Palate: Sweet, honey, woody, slightly buttery, good bitterness, spice, fruity, vanilla, and a bit of alcohol warmth. Good correspondence between nose and palate, though it's less complex on the palate. Finish: Medium to short, with well-balanced bitterness and sweetness, leading to constant salivation. The woody and honey flavors linger in the aftertaste for a good while. General Impressions: A good whisky with excellent value. It contains no coloring or chill filtration and is bottled at 43% ABV in 1-liter bottles. These characteristics alone make it worth purchasing. The bottle improves GREATLY after the level drops below the shoulder, with the persimmon notes softening, which I believe is related to something during fermentation. I personally don't enjoy that note, but that doesn't mean others won't. Recommended for sipping neat, with ice, or in cocktails that call for sweeter whiskies.

Whiskey Lamas Plenus Single Malt. It has a light gold color with an intense shine, and it's presented without dye and without chill filtration. The aroma is pleasant and balanced, with distinct notes of sweet malt, floral, citrus, and vanilla. The flavor is striking, combining non-aggressive alcohol with citrus, oak tannins, vanilla, honey, almonds, and a light peppery spice. Maturation in American oak barrels contributes to its smoothness, harmony, and balance, characteristic of a sophisticated single malt whiskey. This is the first single malt expression from Lamas Destilaria and is considered their most traditional: Plenus (meaning "complete" in Latin). CHARACTERISTICS: Alcohol level: 43%. Volume: 720mL.
