Lagavulin 10yo Feis Ile 2024

This year's Feis Ile 10-year-old Lagavulin expression features heavily charred oak and is bottled at cask strength (56.7% ABV), following the style of last year's Offerman Edition No. 3, a very successful release. On the nose, it begins with pleasant vanilla and peat. It's a distinctly fishy, peaty Lagavulin, with aromas of a fish market, acidity, citrus fruits, and oysters. The palate is salty, peaty, and fishy. The flavor is marvelous and highly enjoyable. The aftertaste carries the smoke. Spicy pepper and the signature Lagavulin peat are present, with Bourbon cask influence evident. Overall, it's another delightful offering from the masters of Islay. While it might be a bit rough around the edges, peat lovers will certainly find it appealing. It received 23 points in every category, totaling 92 out of 100.

Smoke, caramel, a bit too much alcohol flavor for me.
