Vanilla and ashy peat. Even with a few drops of water, the alcohol continues to mask the flavor somewhat. I wasn't aware the sample I tried was cask strength until I researched the whiskey further. It lacks the richness found in other Islay whiskies. I preferred the Loch Gorm 2015.
