Emory Wing 4.5

My third Kavalan Selection, a type of private bottling for specific retailers like The Whisky Exchange; definitely my preferred bottlings from this highly recognized distillery. This Rum Cask Finish is bottled at 57.1% ABV. Uncorking reveals aromas of raisins and chocolate. On the nose, creamy chocolate and Nutella dominate, alongside Piña Colada cocktail and rum raisin ice cream. The aroma is lovely, with fresh pineapple heart, hazelnut with wafer, and the most perfect aroma of peach halves in syrup. Apricots are also present. The aromas remained consistent after the initial taste but became clearer. It's quite good. Cherries and other red fruits appeared after a few sips. Everything feels very 'syrupy'. Cold vanilla cake notes emerge. The palate starts sweet with caramel and a hint of salt, then becomes quite potent with black pepper and some sugar syrup. A second taste brought peach syrup, with the spiciness intensifying and leading to the finish more quickly. The third taste was very sweet and easier to drink, featuring cherries followed again by that pepper and salt punch. The finish is sweet, with some sulfuric metallic notes and ginger. Chocolate and pleasant ash notes appeared on the second taste. There are definitely creamy chocolate notes mingled with a cigarette impression. Overall, this is a very enjoyable bottle, meant for occasional sipping and revisiting. It's powerful yet full of flavor, receiving a perfect score for its fantastic nose. This earns a 90 out of 100 from me.
