Jim Beam Peach

Part of a Jim Beam 12 Days of Christmas sample pack. The sixth of twelve. A brief review. Sample five was a repeat of Jim Beam straight. Light and fruity ripe peach with a splash of Sunny D. Surprisingly fruity, with vibrancy. Unfortunately, no other aromas are discernible. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. The peach flavor carries through to the palate, but it's less intense than on the nose. Again, the Sunny D flavors are present. A hint of white pepper spice keeps the excessive sweetness somewhat in check. Finishes with (take a guess) peach and a touch of drying tannins. This wasn't terrible for a flavored “whiskey”. However, I would consider it more of a liqueur than a flavored whiskey. Again, this is well-suited for a summer mixer, perhaps in an iced tea. Simple fun. Simple pleasure. [Tasted: 12/12/20]

I appreciate this beverage. I initially received it as a complimentary sample and eventually purchased my own bottle. While I find it a bit too sweet on its own, adding a little ice mellows the sweetness, turning it into a dessert in a glass. It's also incredible served over vanilla ice cream. As a drink, it's genuinely nice once it mellows out. I enjoy it in the evening but wouldn't consider it an everyday choice. The peach aroma is evident immediately upon opening the bottle, and it complements the Jim Beam bourbon exceptionally well. Aside from William Wolf Pecan Bourbon, this is the best-flavored bourbon currently available. I can envision this bourbon being an excellent mixer and a post-dinner drink. However, this product doesn't quite measure up to other peach bourbons on the market today.

Having sampled flavored liqueurs from Jack Daniels and Crown Royal, I decided to try Jim Beam's offering. The nose is dominated by heavy peach scents, complemented by some raisin and vanilla notes. The peach flavor on the palate is quite intense, though there's a bit more whiskey character present compared to the others. It tastes more like a bourbon mixed with a liqueur would. This is clearly intended for mixing; I wouldn't advise drinking it straight, but I do appreciate that they retained some of the whiskey's essence.

Considering its nature, this is quite pleasant. It serves well as a beverage for warm weather, to be combined with iced tea and lemonade. It's very revitalizing. It's not meant for sipping neat. However, it possesses more whisky character than many other flavored whiskies, meaning it lacks excessive sweetness. Brands like Bird Dog and Old Smokey are too sweet and overpower the drink. This one has an appropriate level of sweetness to enhance it.

The aroma strongly features sweet peach with a very faint scent of rubbing alcohol. It's sweet and easy to drink, with minimal alcohol burn on the finish. Floral notes and a dominant peach character are present, alongside classic Jim Beam vanilla and oak undertones.

Strong peach aroma. It's sweet but not excessively so. This is a great addition to summer cocktails! Try it with ginger beer, lime, peach bitters, and a mint garnish, served on the rocks. Fantastic!
