Darian Slater 3.8

Green apple barbecue. It's spicy, salty, savory, smoky, herbal, and semisweet. There's also a dirty, grungy industrial scent. If tasted blind, I might mistake this for a mezcal. There's no direct agave flavor, but the prominent smoky savory herbal notes are more reminiscent of mezcal than scotch. Digging deeper reveals a little berry, raspberry, maybe blueberry. It finishes with oatmeal crumble on a cobbler. Overall, this definitely belongs with other island single malts, particularly Ledaig and Kilkerran. It's funky and interesting. I like it.
