Madelynn Hartmann 3.5

Most young grain whiskies I can't stand, but this Invergordon aged in sherry octave casks intrigued me. Smells like cinnamon, pastries, and milk chocolate mixed with sultanas, old cereal, and a hint of sage. After a sweet start, the taste develops with dark fruits, peppery spices, and eucalyptus. It's a little harsh on the edges, but full of flavors. Faintly bitter oak, cocoa, and fresh mint remain in the surprisingly long finish. One night, a poor hornet drowned in this tempting trap - so it must be good. SCORE: 3.5/5.0 stars ≙ 84 pts → ABOVE AVERAGE
