Howler Head Monkey Spirit

Why am I drinking this? Oh right… I received a complimentary sample. On the nose… Yep. There it is. It smells like a young bourbon possibly, masked by a candy-like banana scent. Similar to banana candies. On the palate… It’s banana upfront and banana at the end. Haha. It’s essentially a single note, but there’s an artificial sweetness that permeates it. This makes it feel somewhat thick, comparable to another product but tasting more artificial. This is not something I would likely choose to drink again unless there was a specific cocktail where a banana spirit could somehow be well-suited.

This would be incredibly appealing to monkeys. It's banana. I wouldn't share this with a person, but if I were with a monkey, I'd say, 'Hold on pal, I've got something for you.' And we would share it. Perhaps it would tell me monkey secrets. But yes, I thought a certain personality would create something potent, but I didn't anticipate it resulting in monkey hair! Anyway, I'm eager to try another personality's fruit-flavored beverage (30 Proof).

Very prominent banana flavor, but excessively sweet and syrupy for my preference. It would work well in a cocktail, but it wouldn't require any additional sugar. Now reviewing the next morning. I feel like I've consumed an entire loaf of bread. The sugar content in this does not lead to a positive experience. Adjusting my rating from 2.5 down to 1.75.

Sugary bourbon isn't my preference, which is why I'm not a fan of Angels Envy. This bourbon, however, is fantastic for mixing! I strongly suggest combining it with cold V8 Splash tropical blend; it's incredibly potent... you'll lose track of time around a campfire and only realize it when you get up.

I consider this my go-to for social gatherings. It's smooth enough to drink by itself and also works well in mixed drinks. For individuals who don't appreciate whiskey as much as I do (their loss is my gain!), it can be taken as shots without an artificial cinnamon aftertaste causing a grimace.

Yes, it's flavored. But consider this: combine two parts of this with one part of another. The result is a delicious peanut butter banana flavor... I usually avoid flavored whiskeys, but I'll keep these on hand just for this purpose... It reminds me of eating PB&J sandwiches as a kid...
