About this bottle

This single malt, created exclusively for Global Travel Retail, was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2012. It was launched as part of Highland Park's Vintage Collection, a series featuring limited edition bottlings derived from specific annual stocks. It succeeds the 1998 vintage, with the whisky primarily aged in first-fill American oak barrels.

Kendall Blackman 3.0

The aroma begins with light citrus peel, honey, and floral hints. It's light with a subtle medicinal note. The initial taste is bourbon-like, ashy, with a mild alcoholic warmth that travels up into the nose. The mid-palate shifts to flavors of caramel, citrus, and even ginger before revealing a signature light peaty note characteristic of Highland Park on the back palate. The finish is moderately long, aromatic, and bitter. It reminds me of a Bourbon with an interesting peaty finish; drinkable, but not particularly complex or remarkable.

First taste of whisky to kick off my exploration. My father, a 58-year-old man, suggested it. I figure that's a good sign.

Mervin Lake 5.0

Purchased affordably in Shanghai (wish I had acquired their entire stock).
