About this bottle

This high-rye bourbon, featuring a mash bill of 56% corn, 31% rye, and 13% barley, is crafted by Tad Seestedt at Ransom Spirits in the hills of northwestern Oregon. It is distilled in a 300-gallon Pruehlo alembic copper still and matures for a minimum of two years in American oak, with some additional time in French oak. The bourbon is then hand-bottled, labeled, and sealed with wax. The label design features a bootlegger using the pseudonym Henry DuYore to conceal his actual identity.

Yesenia Hernandez 4.5

Prominent smoke and oak aroma and taste. The rye spice persists throughout the palate. Leather and wood on the finish. An acquired preference, perhaps, but rewarding. It may not excel in every cocktail, but enjoyed straight with ice, or with amaro in a Manhattan style... Highly recommended! Revisited 2/2021. The profile remains consistent--oak and leather, smoky, corn but not intensely sweet. It's an unconventional profile, and my previous rating might be too high, but still enjoyable. Batch 6, Bottle 2676.

Kyla Tuttle 4.5

Very smoky and oak wood on the nose and tongue. Rye spice persists throughout the palate. Leather and wood on the finish. An acquired taste, perhaps, but worthwhile. It won't be great in every cocktail, but straight with ice, or with amaro like a Manhattan... Ahhh Yes! Re-tasted 2/2021. The profile remains the same--oak and leather, smoky, corn but not overly sweet. It's an unusual profile, but still enjoyable.

Alexandra Orellana 3.0

It's okay but somewhat dull. Might be good in a mixed drink

Kaiden Zeller 3.0
