I toured Heaven Hill and had the chance to try a Heaven Hill Select Stock finished in an Armagnac barrel. It was a fantastic bottle, but too expensive after buying too many bottles. Then I saw this one with a coffee barrel finish, which caught my interest. As someone who loves coffee, I knew I'd enjoy it, and I'm not let down. The nose clearly presents coffee, vanilla, and caramel. On the palate, if you didn't know it was from a coffee barrel, you might think it's very dark chocolate or mocha flavor with that hint of caramel. There's also a slight smoky sensation, but the coffee flavor ultimately dominates a bit, so if you don't like coffee, this isn't for you. Cheers!
