Ah Springbank, I won't claim you always deliver, as there have been some unusual and overdone bottles, but you truly impress when you do. Great body, perfect balance, and complexity... all qualities I wish I possessed, but hey, I'd be more than content with a bottle of this to make up for it. I tried a newly opened bottle of Glendronach 18 afterwards, and while it was great (I'm currently rating those more like a 4.25 to 4.5, not higher. This one is definitely comparable and in some ways superior. Sadly, the First Edition is no longer available. I was considering buying a later release for $100 USD, but the tasting notes seemed quite different from mine. Light and fruity versus a rich, deeper, oily sherry bourbon character.
