Nose: Burnt sugars, wood, vanilla bean, pit fruit, and a lingering funk I can't pinpoint. Palate: Overwhelmed by caramel, then wood, extended waves of vanilla, and barrel astringency. Overall: A good time. The nose presents more layers than the palate and finish. Extremely lengthy finish with luscious caramel sweetness. I'd have another pour, though the cost is a bit much.

About this bottle
Hardin’s Creek is a line of scarce, experimental whiskeys from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. Its Warehouse Series, a three-part investigation, explores the impact of warehouse design, height, and microclimate on whiskey maturation. Every Kentucky straight bourbon in this series underwent 11 years of aging with an identical mash bill and was bottled at 110 proof. Each bottling includes a symbolic figure associated with its maturation environment. The Mushroom variant was aged in Warehouse R, a distinctive single-story, windowless rickhouse in Clermont, Kentucky. It will be offered in select markets starting October 2025. (SRP $149.99)
