About this bottle

Hardin’s Creek is a line of scarce, experimental whiskeys from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. Its Warehouse Series, a three-part investigation, explores the impact of warehouse design, altitude, and local climate on whiskey maturation. Every Kentucky straight bourbon in this series underwent 11 years of aging with an identical mash bill and was bottled at 110 proof. Each bottling includes a symbolic figure associated with its maturation environment. The Owl variant was aged in Warehouse G, a nine-story facility located in Clermont, Kentucky. It will be offered in select markets starting October 2025. (SRP $149.99)

Nose: Floral with honeysuckle, clover honey, vanilla pudding notes. Very similar to Legent, minus the berry notes from the wine finish. Palate: Initially disappointing. It's oaky and dry. The flavors are muted, bordering on strange. This is nothing like the Beam you rave about – not like old Bookers, well-aged KC 120, etc. It's OAK, with a hint of sour cherry/sweet tart. No peanuts, no caramel, just oak and tartness. It improved as it opened up, growing on me due to its distinct palate and drinkability. Finish: The finish is long, ending with tart cherry candy.

Reviewing for the second time now that it has mellowed somewhat. Consistent with my initial impressions, but a bit more balanced. It's still unusual, but I'm enjoying it more. However, it's still not worth the cost.
