Hangar 1 Straight Vodka

From an innovative distillery, this small batch vodka uses Viognier grapes distilled in a pot still and American wheat from a column still. It's made in a historic hangar in the San Francisco Bay Area. The aroma is of sweet grapes. It has an oily texture in the glass and mouth. The flavor is mild grain, fruit, and a touch of ethanol, but very floral, not harsh. It's not even warm. Smooth and welcoming at room temperature. The finish is dry grain with a lingering grape sweetness. Intended for sipping, but would work in cocktails, like a Vodka Martini. It rivals the best vodkas I've had, surpassing major European brands. This grape/grain distillate is truly remarkable.

The finest vodka I've ever experienced. A small producer, somewhat difficult to locate. I've been enjoying martinis with this since first trying it at a specific hotel in 2003. Superior to all the other usual premium brands I've sampled, including Belvedere, Grey Goose, Kettle One, Vox, and Tito's; Absolut tastes like flammable liquid in comparison. Stoli and Smirnoff are essentially rotgut.

A pleasant vodka for sipping on the rocks. Made from grapes, it leaves a nice sweet aftertaste when you exhale after drinking.

This is genuinely crisp and invigorating. Simple to consume straight and makes for an excellent martini.

Based on my recollection, it was smooth.
