About this bottle

A new travel retail release from Glenmorangie is now available in stores. "The Tribute" is a lightly peated single malt, aged 16 years, that reflects the distillery's early practice of using a peat kiln for drying barley. Bottled at 43% ABV, it comes in a 1-liter decanter. On the nose, it actually carries a smoky scent. There's vanilla, but it lacks the typical orange note found in Glenmorangie. You'll also find fondant and stewed apples, cider, imperceptible sugar, and peaches. After the initial taste, the aroma shifts to resemble a diluted ashtray and coconut. It's not overpowering but is quite complex on the nose. On the palate, I detect peaches, subtle hints of smoke, and chili. A second taste revealed a thick apple juice consistency, like Mott's Apple Juice. The aftertaste is dominated by chili, smoke, and salt. Overall, while my tasting and aroma notes might suggest a complex and rich dram, it truly presents all the described elements in a subdued, light manner that feels somewhat discordant. My rating for this decent dram is 84 out of 100.

The whisky's aroma consists of peat, with just a whisper of charred white oak beneath. On the palate, the scotch is smoky, with underlying notes of orange peel, leather, and a touch of tobacco in the finish. The aftertaste is entirely smoke, oak tannins, and a subtle warmth that travels down the chest and up into the sinuses.

I'm really enjoying this. It possesses remarkable complexity. Aromas of smoke, peat, leather, tobacco, olives, oil, and savory herbs like oregano and thyme are present. The texture is viscous and silky, extremely smooth. The savory notes brilliantly contrast with the sweet flavors on the palate, which include grapes, peaches, oranges, biscuit, honey, and spice.

A wonderful offering from one of my most cherished distilleries. I appreciate the unusual hint of smokiness in Glenmorangie, which is typically free of peat or smoke. You need to take your time with this one; ensure you warm it sufficiently to truly unlock the aroma. It was a birthday gift from my elder son!

This 86 proof spirit was aged in former bourbon barrels. It features peat, buttered salted caramel, popcorn, pears, charred oranges, vanilla ice cream, oak, smoked lemon, grapes, and coconut.

Dewayne Lockett 4.3

The nose has a citrusy character with a trace of peat. On the palate, it's smooth and citrusy, with mild peat and smoke that become more apparent in the aftertaste. It offers a pleasant, flavorful peat experience.
