Glenmorangie The Elementa 14 Year

There's a travel retail collection from the major whisky producer Glenmorangie, which I believe is called "the legends", featuring variations of popular releases. I tried "The Accord" and it was quite good. Tonight, I'm having "the Elementa". It's a 14-year-old single malt, aged in new charred oak casks. Bottled at 43% abv with a golden hue. On the nose, it carries the Glenmorangie essence: orange peel, vanilla, chocolate, and fruitcake. After the initial sip, the aroma evolved into orange leaf and pepper. The palate begins peppery with intense, pleasant chili notes, along with hints of oranges and tangerine. A second taste revealed vanilla cream, oak spice, and mint fondant. The aftertaste is spicy, with notes of pepper, aniseed, clove, and oranges. Overall, for a 14-year-old Glenmorangie, it's underwhelming. The promised spiciness isn't particularly impressive, the characteristic Glenmo oranges are present, along with some vanilla and all the standard, unexciting notes found in many other drams. I often find travel retail exclusives to be inferior, and this is an example. My rating is 76 out of 100.

From a duty-free liter purchase. It has fresh floral notes, pronounced French oak spice with a firm finish, sugared orange peel, zesty ginger, dried mango, clove, light cake, vanilla pods, Chinese cinnamon, peppery hints, nutty undertones, and caramel. It's quite good, particularly for a 14-year-old scotch at this cost.

On the nose, it smells sweet with notes of citrus fruit, pepper, honeydew, green apples, & pencil shavings. On the palate, it's a burst of sweetness and spice with notes of fruit and cinnamon.

Nose: Vanilla, caramel, oak, nuts, pear. Palate: Vanilla, nuts, plums, chocolate. Finish: Chocolate, oak. The distillery's signature flavor is clearly present. It's nicely balanced and has character, reminding me of high-quality bourbons.

The aroma presents spices and vanilla from oak. The taste follows with more of the same, concluding with a moderately sweet finish. The alcohol content is too low to make it worth pursuing.

Ginger and citrus on the nose. Intense chocolate complements the ginger and orange. Pleasant woody undertones maintain its dryness.
