Glenkinchie 2008 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2020)

Underappreciated. Smoky and woody on the nose, then fully smoky in the mouth with a hint of peppermint. It has spice but doesn't burn; it's straightforwardly smoky but not overpowering. It feels very grounded. Letting it rest reveals an inky quality. Adding one drop of water per ounce makes it so refined it becomes almost peaty without the harshness or intensity. It's a temperature sensation. No ethanol taste; the ethanol is a temperature. It's cool and lively, smoky. An almond core might be present, but a pecan apple pie is a more accurate description.

I enjoy lowland Scotch. It's much smoother and lacks the peaty flavor of other Scotch. I only wish this were available locally in the U.S.

Fruit, light oak, with a powdery taste. Very mild but still has some ethanol present. I was somewhat disappointed.

Tasted pleasant. A friend had it.
