Glendronach Single Cask 2003, 13yo Sherry Puncheon

As you all know, my preferred distillery is Glendronach. They simply produce the finest spirits. However, even for them, this expression represents a new height. It's relatively young yet remarkably flawless. It appears to be from a 2003 vintage, aged 13 years, a Single Sherry Cask #4034. Bottled at 52.5% ABV for enhanced flavor, it has a chestnut hue. On the nose: Pure perfection. Immediately, you detect oranges coated in chocolate; like cocoa milk powder and Maraschino cherry syrup. There's a pronounced alcohol presence, yet it's not unpleasant. The best way to describe it is a citrusy chocolate note overall. You also get hazelnuts, a wine-like grape character, cinnamon spice (not sweet, but piquant), and acetone. After 5 minutes of resting: hazelnuts, cough syrup, and chocolate fudge emerge. Following the first taste, red fruits become apparent. It's so wonderful you'll want to keep smelling it indefinitely. On the palate: Sweet cherries! Incredibly sweet cherries and red fruits. That delightful sensation after consuming raisins, a flavor that lingers. Peach syrup. Almonds encased in chocolate, reminiscent of a Ritter almond chocolate bar. The finish is equally a masterpiece. Chocolate and pepper. Ginger. Very dry. Traces of cocoa milk powder remain on the mouth's palate. Ultimately, this spirit prompted a realization: I should exclusively purchase Glendronach single cask expressions and cease buying samples or other bottles. They are truly extraordinary.
