Allan Ogle 4.5

Nose: cherry syrup, an old armchair, vintage books, woodland ground Palate: dark cherries, almond pastry, holiday spices, vanilla cream Finish: Lingering, dry, astringent oak Comparison: Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 8 - Both are outstanding cask strength sherried whiskies. However, the 12 is significantly darker and this shows in the flavor and aroma. The Batch 8 seems considerably younger and hotter. Batch 8 is very vanilla-forward with spicy oak on the finish. The 12 offers more complexity. The depth of flavor is quite impressive. It even has some leather and mustiness that are usually found in much older spirits.
