Signatory Vintage consistently offers some bold, cask-strength single cask selections, typically packed with flavor; however, occasionally they're just too potent for the "uninitiated" taste. I happened to get my hands on a Signatory Vintage bottling of an extremely high proof GlenAllachie expression, bottled at 67.5% ABV. A 12-year-old spirit, distilled in November 2009 and bottled in October 2022, drawn from cask No. 900862. Limited to just 612 bottles produced. On the nose, it's flawless. Pineapple caramel, liquid paper, ginger, and coffee. An incredible aroma. Burnt caramel. On the palate, I detect caramel, orange peel, and tart fruits. Burnt caramel. The finish is very sugary. Brown sugar. Coffee residue. So many sugar profiles here. Overall, I must say that you can't actually feel the powerful 67.5% ABV here. It's so sweet that the high alcohol is nicely disguised. This could be a snare for some individuals, as it doesn't feel that strong, but you can definitely get intoxicated from a few glasses. A wonderful dram, my rating for it is 94 out of 100.
