GlenAllachie 10 Year Rye Wood Finish

Smell: crisp apple, dark chocolate, cinnamon, light clove, fresh grass, dark fruits, caramel, green tea. Taste: apple and fruits transition to baking spices, finishing with oily chocolate and coffee flavors. A fantastic whiskey, especially the aroma. It tastes a bit hot for being under 100 proof, and the palate is less engaging than the nose. While still good, I wish more flavors came through as the aroma is delightful. Excited to try more from this promising producer.

Aroma: Sweet vanilla, pears, green apples, orange zest, cinnamon, and hints of oak. Taste: Sweet honey, vanilla, citrus, cinnamon, rye, and oak spices. The finish is medium with sweet vanilla, oak, rye spice, malts, and mild tobacco. Overall: A good dram. Bright, a bit young, but balanced and enjoyable.

The nose carries notes of syrup and caramel with just a hint of cinnamon. The palate is sweet, though less so than the nose, with considerable spiciness. A smooth, warm finish leaves charred notes behind.

Aromas of caramel, tobacco, pears, floral notes, and spice. Flavors are similar to the nose, sweet with more prominent floral notes and some rye whiskey present. A short-lived throat burn at the end. Quite good, but not outstanding.

Aroma: vanilla, pound cake, lemon meringue, rye, green apple, and pine. On the palate, it's light yet complex with a degree of richness; featuring rye, vanilla, pepper, cocoa, apples, cinnamon, and pears. Certainly interesting.

Very pleasant aroma, somewhat like salted caramel and toasted grains. The taste has an interesting bitter/sweet contrast with some spice in the finish.
