Nose: Dark and deep. Dark syrup, grilled apple leaning clearly towards calvados. Distinct cask of PX reminiscent of a cool basement in a limestone church. Sweet rum raisins, dark cherries, and perhaps a hint of overripe banana. For fans of Barley wine (beer), there are parallels to Bötet Barley from Nynäshamn's Ångbryggeri. Palate: Directly rustic sweetness upfront, while oak barrels, chestnut, and dark red berries surge like a tidal wave across the cheeks. Feather-light acidity on the sides of the tongue, noticeable for just a few seconds. Nicely executed, and I suspect the Rioja cask is responsible, though I'm no wine expert. Some tannic bitterness at the back. After some chewing, it becomes potent and begins to stimulate the tongue effectively. Abundant dried figs, dates, and raisins. Quality: Initially, a rush of oak and ethanol teetering on the edge of being overwhelming. Leather and the aroma of a grandfather's pipe tobacco. Dusty barrels and almonds. A feeling of a yellow-orange, slightly damp autumn forest. Dry woodshed and lingering tannins that don't intrude. A very fine Speyside straight from the barrel. I'll primarily savor this after autumn's swan walks. Wishing a happy weekend to all who've read this far! 🌿

I think this is what the english call christmas cake. In holland we would refer to "rum-raisins". Grab a fork and knife! Nose warming. No need for water.

Cory Heaton 4.0

Warm, balanced, rich, with cherry, maple, dusty notes, and an oloroso funk. Perhaps a little too sweet.

Estella Domingo 3.8

Hints of cocoa, dried fruit, honey, and baking spice.

Tommie Cherry 2.8

Well-balanced with a very pleasing finish.

Karissa Tomlinson 4.0

Dried grapes, figs
