Picture this: you're in the small Scottish port town of Campbeltown, heading into a pub just before closing at 10pm. The bartender says they can only serve you one drink. Then, your eyes land on a fascinating 9-year-old Glen Scotia from this year's Campbeltown whisky festival. Now that's a great evening. Matured in First-Fill Bourbon and finished in Fino Sherry, this is a limited release with a potent 56.2% ABV. On the nose, it smells like wet paint, peaches, cider, and Play-Doh. The palate is very fruity, with melon, peaches, and spices. The finish is packed with spices like chili and tobacco, reminiscent of Cuban cigars – a truly satisfying conclusion. Overall, this was excellent. It's not overly complicated but delivers effectively. It presents interesting layers of seemingly contrasting flavors and aromas that somehow harmonize perfectly. My rating is a solid 90 out of 100.
