Nose: Pear, dry wood, a raisin box, and honey. The aroma is intriguing, like a cedar chest packed with raisins, yet it feels vibrant as if the raisins are plump. It's a delightful and distinctive nose. Body: Medium Palate: Heather, floral notes, and honey are present, along with a very real but mild spiciness. It's curious how these elements are combined. It's quite different and very enjoyable. Finish: Medium in length. Pleasantly sweet, but without the lingering smoke I favor, though it's accessible. Note: A sample from a friend. I'm interested to see how this young spirit performs. It represents Speyside and the Isla River. It's interesting on the first sip with a mouthwatering finish. I'm surprised by how the initial taste created a sensation in my mouth that lingered. My first impression is that this is better than I anticipated. It would serve as an excellent introduction to the non-peated and diverse range of single malts. Truly very good.
