Part of Buffalo Trace's yearly Antique Collection, this George T. Stagg Bourbon originated from their high rye #1 mash bill. It was distilled in the autumn of 1993 and subsequently bottled in the fall of 2010, remaining uncut and unfiltered at 143 proof, with a limited release.

Uncertain of the specific bottling, but I sampled this at a club in Tucson for only about $15. It was exceptional; extremely potent, but after savoring it for some time and taking very small sips, I began to detect a great deal of complexity. I would pay a significant amount for this, likely over $150 if I ever found a bottle.
138.2 proof Appearance: amber red and vegetal oils. Tails persist. Taste: coats the gums but the spice is not overwhelming for its age. Moves all around the palate. Hits with vanilla. Finish: sting lingers but it feels good. Finishes with corn and the sting is like a rollercoaster; strong mild up down
Look, I recognize this is a high-quality bourbon, and it is good. However, it has an intense burn. The upside is its high alcohol content means you get your money's worth due to the speed at which you must consume it.
Uncertain about the year. It packs a punch due to the barrel strength. The mouthfeel is a bit syrupy. It's sweet after the initial intensity fades. It's nice. Adding a small amount of water would probably improve it.
Incredibly intricate, initially quite hot, followed by a wonderful warming sensation after a spicy finish. Notes of caramel and oak are prominent throughout. Delightful. A powerful bourbon!
Trip to the mountains, enjoyed at a fantastic whisky bar on Pearl St. Absolutely delicious and worth every single cent.
