Garrison Brothers 94 Proof Single Barrel Select [Barrel # 16753 / Bottle # 101 / 47% ABV / Distilled & Barreled in 2019] is a damn fine, robust, Straight Bourbon from Texas, made with corn from Southwest Texas and matured in American white oak for 3 years. It presents a fragrant beginning with hints of corn, oak, dirt, and spice; a powerful middle brings notes of corn, vanilla, nutmeg, butterscotch, and hay; finishing with a woody finale of moderate duration, carrying notes of fresh oak, a baseball glove, and clay. The nose offers rich cherry and honey, with hints of peanut and a plastic toy or play-doh scent. The taste echoes the nose, starting with cherry candy followed by a nutty and plastic toy undertone that fades, leaving a sweet, dry brown sugar finish. A great bourbon, though perhaps a bit pricey.
