Frey Ranch Single Barrel Cask Strength Straight Bourbon (Four Grain)

Neat. Neck pour. I don't know much about Frey Ranch aside from them farming and distilling. I think they use organic grain too. This is a single barrel selection from Blackwell’s. I believe the Mashbill is also four grain. I'm enjoying the nose initially. I don't know the age but it doesn't seem young. It's very bright and fruity. Apple and peaches. A nice layer of caramel and a hint of chocolate. Flaky pie crust browned and buttered. There's definitely a lot of grain character here, which I don't mean as being young but rather as being surrounded by different grains at the distillery. There is something relaxing and comforting about this aroma. Like lilac or lavender even. It would make a really good candle. I'm impressed so far. Hoping the taste lives up to this. Super oily, rich mouthfeel. It certainly brings a lot of nice flavor! A nice finish too. Very light and bright on the tongue at first. Sweet, apple. Hint of caramel. The mid-palate is a bit darker. It hits with baking spices that escalate into rich caramels, vanilla, and chocolate. Starting to get more apple towards the finish, even the peaches. The floral notes are really emerging too. Blind this could be mistaken for a barrel strength Four Roses, but I prefer this. Maybe significantly better. This is dangerously easy to drink at 122 proof. There's nothing stereotypically craft about this. This is a secret weapon. As I sit with it, the floral aspects are intensifying. I just finished a 2 ounce pour and want to explore it more. The glass still smells amazing!

Nose: This presents as something quite unique. Highly herbal and earthy, with notes of rose, cucumber, watermelon, lavender, and spice. The nose exhibits considerable complexity, and the alcohol is completely concealed. Taste: Wow. This is incredibly refreshing. A fruit medley of raspberry, citrus, and juicy cantaloupe, with overall freshness. There's a subtle hint of bread or something similar. This is genuinely delicious, highly distinctive, and entirely original. Finish: It lingers at the back of the throat, not as intense down the esophagus. It's warm but doesn't feel like its stated proof. The flavors swirl in the mouth for an extended period. Overall: This is exceptional bourbon. Truly phenomenal stuff to share with close friends on the right occasion. I'm struggling to find a comparison. Many thanks to a friend!

I sampled two versions, Bourbon Life and Liquor World. Both were outstanding but quite distinct. The Bourbon Life expression was richer in oak, with caramel and vanilla notes. It also had a pronounced grain character, though not unpleasant, which evolved into fruitiness on the finish after some aeration. The Liquor World version offered more fruit on the nose and palate, and seemed older and better integrated, aligning with my perception of a typical bourbon. I was highly impressed!

Aroma: caramel, vanilla, brown sugar. Evokes a Werther's candy. So much butterscotch 👏🏿👏🏿 Taste: Caramel, vanilla, and peanut. Reminiscent of the candy part of peanut brittle. This is delightful. Aftertaste: at 135.22 proof it delivers a long Kentucky hug. Summary: my bottle is from a club selection by someone. 4.5/5 this is fantastic.

I've been trying to acquire this for a while. On the nose, there's caramel, brown sugar, and rye. On the palate, it's quite smooth considering the 129 proof, with vanilla, chocolate, spicy rye, and brown sugar. The finish is satisfyingly long and warming. Excellent product from Frey Ranch!
