An absolutely stunning nose featuring burnt sugar, vanilla/buttercream frosting, honeycomb, birthday cake, fresh sliced wheat bread, and just-fried crisps. Be warned: without dilution, the palate is excellent, but the finish is pure fire at 60.8% ABV. Before adding water, there are hints of crème brûlée and pie crust with a slight salinity. The finish is lengthy, intense, and packed with baking spices and cinnamon sugar. After dilution, the nose reveals more potato crisp and malt, with the vanilla receding behind the honeycomb and fresh malt and gooey butter cake. Peaches and cream are also very prominent. The taste then opens up to fresh baked cinnamon apples and banana nut bread. The finish remains warm but becomes very inviting, with notes of marshmallow and Asian pear. A truly enjoyable dram!
