Fireball Cinnamon Whisky

Seriously, are we not more discerning? I hesitate to sound patronizing, but how can any adult who's outgrown their college years still consume this? After experiencing fine American bourbons and whiskeys, along with Scottish varieties and others, how can anyone willingly purchase this? I'll explain. It's available at Universal Studios' Harry Potter's Wizarding World. While my children drank their butterbeer (which is essentially a cream soda float – avoid it), I decided to try their Whiskey Fire. Yes, that's the name of the whiskey in Potterland... Whiskey Fire. I paid nearly $10 for a single serving, when a whole bottle likely costs much less. It's awful. Just cheap whiskey mixed with a significant amount of cinnamon liqueur. Steer clear. It's a testament to superior marketing over companies like Diageo. Universal Studios took an inexpensive bottle, rebranded it with Harry Potter themes, and more than doubled the price. On a positive note, after a week at Disney and Universal, perhaps a jolt of cheap whiskey was exactly what I needed. It's the most magical theme park destination, but also the most draining... I definitely need another vacation after this trip.

This is just another "whiskey" for those who don't typically enjoy whiskey. It strongly resembles cinnamon schnapps and candy rather than genuine whiskey. There's virtually no authentic Canadian whiskey flavor present in its composition. It seems to be merely whiskey-flavored cinnamon schnapps combined with neutral grain spirits, and only a minuscule amount of whiskey to technically qualify. If you can't handle the taste of actual whiskey, just stick with Goldschlager.

With this spirit, you know what to expect. It's likely not a top choice for dedicated whisky enthusiasts, but it has its purpose. The nose carries cinnamon spice. The taste appears artificially sweet but is immediately identifiable. It brings back memories of childhood when a parent would provide hot tamales candy, red hots, or Big Red chewing gum. It has a long finish with moderate warmth.

Terrible. If I wanted a cinnamon-flavored whiskey, I'd opt for Jack Daniel's Fire instead. I'd describe Fireball as tasting like red hots and some whiskey. Jack Daniel's Fire, on the other hand, is whiskey with some red hots. Notice the order I mentioned the ingredients. You can clearly tell Jack Daniel's Fire is whiskey; this garbage is... well, garbage. It's a mystery how it's classified as whiskey.

This was the first drink of the evening, consumed after several beers from a full bottle. It has a lot of sugar but a good flavor balance. It resembles a sweeter, smoother [brand name]. It's sticky! There's no alcohol scent or taste. The whiskey character is hardly noticeable. It has pleasant, warming spices, similar to grog or mulled wine.

Whiskey flavor with a potent cinnamon kick. It warms the palate as it goes down. There's nothing terrible about this spirit; it's a sweet drink to be savored. It doesn't pair well with food. Best enjoyed as a quick nightcap over ice, long after dinner. It's almost a dessert on its own. Avoid drinking too much; just sip and appreciate.
