Elmer T. Lee 100 Year Tribute Single Barrel Bourbon

Its vibrant amber color clings to the glass without streaks. The scent is subtle, featuring oak, caramel, brown sugar, a spicy rye note, and hints of vanilla and citrus. The taste is somewhat chewy, with creamy rye prominent, joined by cinnamon and pepper, while other flavors recede. The finish is medium, with the sweeter notes fading, leaving oak and rye to linger. A decent bourbon, but it could be more complex and have a longer finish.

To quote a friend: ‘It has a velvety mouthfeel with abundant vanilla, toffee, and maple syrup notes initially. Then you encounter berries and some fig notes, leading to a finish driven by wood spice/toasted oak with a hint of cinnamon. It lingers on the palate. Very well executed.’ This pour sets the standard against which I will judge all other bourbons.

Classic bourbon aroma, like caramel syrup with a whisper of cherry. A moderate finish. It doesn't provide a strong warmth at 100 proof, but it's an enhanced rendition of standard ETL. You can clearly detect some wood and spice, with heat that gradually builds. The finish offers fruity notes.

The aroma is alcoholic toffee with cotton candy notes. Perhaps some fruit and brown sugar. The taste is brown sugar/toffee and dark fruit. The ethanol is noticeable on the back palate/throat. Vanilla and light baking spice are also present.

Absolutely outstanding. Smoked butterscotch and Turkish tobacco on the nose, leading to caramel honey and grapey cherry candy on the palate. The finish is where this one falls short, but overall it's still exceptional.

Excellent aroma of caramel, strawberry jam, and hints of citrus (grapefruit and lime for me). Much of the same is present on the palate, with the addition of coffee notes. Well-balanced with a medium finish.
