Ballechin, the heavily peated single malt brand from Edradour Distillery in the Highlands, features different cask types in its Discovery Series. Release number 7 was matured exclusively in French Bordeaux hogsheads and has an alcohol by volume of 46% without chill-filtration.

Compared directly with another expression aged in Sauternes casks, which was far inferior. This one is delightful, with notes of raisins, honey, spices, and smoke. It's almost dangerously easy to drink.
