Edradour 10yo Moscatel Cask Matured

Anyone who appreciates a fine sherried whisky has likely sampled a bottling from the renowned Edradour. Often cited as Scotland's smallest distillery (though a couple are smaller), they predominantly release limited editions and have recently been experimenting with wine cask finishes, which are truly remarkable. This particular expression is aged in a Moscatel cask, is 10 years old, and bottled at 57.8% ABV. The aroma is incredible. White chocolate, buttery notes, almonds, and lemon zest. Citrus notes are prominent; it's very floral, as anticipated from the Moscatel aging. It also has notes of vanilla and almond butter, along with wild berries. An outstanding scent. The taste is nearly perfect. White chocolate, red berries, and strong spices. After a second taste, you get thick caramel and a robust sulfuric character. The finish is also very good. Pepper and red fruits. Delightful. In summary, this whisky is characterized by its intense white chocolate and wild berry profile, arguably the most pronounced ever. For a 10-year-old dram priced under a hundred pounds/dollars, it's practically unbeatable. It offers abundant flavor and strength. The aroma is extraordinary.
