Barrel #961, 100 proof. Sampled neat in a glen cairn. Nose: Cherry-vanilla Dr. Pepper with a hint of oak. As it rests, more vanilla emerges. A lively and welcoming aroma. Palate: Initial sweetness from bing cherries and vanilla cream, followed by subtle oak that isn't overly drying. The texture is exceptionally buttery, finishing with a brown butter nuttiness. A touch of nutmeg adds balancing spice. Finish: A wonderful conclusion! Peanut notes appear at the end, alongside the cherry-Dr. Pepper flavor from the initial smell. Overall: An excellent bourbon. I'd confidently place it against most Kentucky offerings blindfolded; it would perform admirably. The extended aging elevates their standard 5-year product.
